Sick....AGAIN!!!!!

Lucky me...Once again I have tonsilitis. Although I have to hi-tail it to the Dr. in the morning since he is still closed, the pain is JUST starting to worsen. So by tomorrow morning I won't be able to stand it anymore. Maybe I can have them taken out soon! As my family can agree, it haunted me my entire childhood.

Finished Project

Under construction

Here are the pictures during construction of the boys bedroom

Here it is

WE'RE ENGAGED!

This might not come as a surprise to some but others...I'm sure the phone will be ringing. Ed asked me to marry him last night...of course I said yes. My parents were involved in a few of the details (little did I know that there was no tool exchange going on). I'll post a picture later.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Wishing Everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. From Pat, Ed, Jacob, Jonah, Kurtis, Sean and Justin!

Its time to start a new month!

Well I started this month sick with Strep throat and I am ending it on a cold. In between I had tonsilitis as well. I think November is a bad month for me so bring on December.

I will have some new housemates in December. Ed and 2 of his boys are moving in. Can we say busy household with 4 boys! I think I will feel overwhelmed with testosterone. One good thing about boys...they can shovel the driveway!

Anyway, its time to go and nurse my cold. I was forced to rest today.

Not much going on!

We've been busy still with hockey. Check out the link with new pictures from the Ottawa game.

Been a While

Hello everyone. Just thought it was about time I updated my site. You know how the saying goes, no news is good news...so there is nothing to report right now. We are heading to Ottawa this coming Saturday. Kurtis is going to play hockey at the Scotiabank center (where the SENATORS play). They are having a game against an Ottawa team and then stay for the NHL game VS Buffalo. Should be a good time for everyone.

Starting some demolition and construction on my house. For those of you who have now seen my place, the laundry room is in one big mess of wood and drywall. I often wonder what people thing when they build things. Who puts styrofoam in a wall???? Anyway, it will be a new bedroom and second bath. The demolition was fun and also a big mess. The next step is to frame in the two rooms and complete a bedroom first. The bathroom requires a little more effort so it will be done over time. I'll post a picture of the mess soon enough and do the before and after pics.

Anyway, off for a nap...A bit under the weather today.

First Penalty

Congratulations on making the game sheet today Kurtis. Penalty called for interference. Who would have thought 52lbs could do that!

First Goal

Congratulations Kurtis on your first goal of the season. Way to play!

Crazy Days

I have not posted in a few days since my computer had some problems. Turned out to be a faulty harddrive. After 3 trials of a new one at the shop, they finally found one that worked. So almost a week later, I am finally back online.

Kurtis had a hockey tournament in Peterborough this past weekend. To make a long story short...they lost.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

New Form of Birth Control

When you are undecided about having more kids...invite some over for a birthday party to find out how you like it. Lets try 8 9-year olds for Kurtis' birthday and have them stay over the night. I swear, you will be thankful for the ones you have and the ones that aren't yours!
Happy 9th Birthday Kurtis...Cheers! your mother survived it!

Another Day of 4-wheeling

Its addicting I tell you! Ed and I went out this morning 4-wheeling into the rugged terrain of Brighton Game Reserve. I like puddles I tell you! Anyway, here are a couple of pictures of me on both bikes (one is Jacobs). Going through a rather large puddle and the other down a hill.

Pats 4 wheeling adventure

I had a chance to get on a 4 wheeler this weekend with Ed and his boys. Never been on one so its a little intimidating...But what fun I had! Jacob was the first to take me around and didn't scare me off. Ed took me up a steep hill and down...then decided he would let me drive for a bit. Interesting but I did do fairly well. Last time out, I went back out with Jacob and he drove again. Came up to a big obstacle to either go through or not....He listened to me when I told him to go through. About 3/4 of the way through the small(yeah ok) water hazard, we got stuck and stuck good. Jacob has to go get his dad. Imagine me on the bike with legs out of the water, 2 kids on the shore watching, Jacob in the water up to his knees and Ed....let me tell you about Ed...REalized he HAD to get in the water to help. So he strips down to his underwear so he would at least have something clean to wear home and then hops in the water to help. I wish I had my camera since the whole thing was priceless. Needless to say, we managed to get out.

Housewarming BBQ

Well I had my first house party last night. I had a BBQ/Corn roast/Housewarming all wrapped into one. There was still quite a bit of corn left afterward. People showed up sporadically and of course I had to have a drink with everyone as they came...so ummmm...today was a little rough. I enjoyed having everyone there and thank you for the houseplants and wine that was brought. I'll pass on the wine for a bit though.

Golden Hawks Vs. Cobourg

First game of the season was played yesterday against cobourg. It was a 4-4 tie. Kurtis' line scored all 4 goals and I think he had 2 assists. This game was exhibition and there is another to follow next Saturday as well.

Off the dating market...

When I say that, I almost feel like a fish in one of those fish stands on ice that has now been taken home. HA!
The journey has been taken to a new level now. I have met someone...for real this time! (for all of you reading that say "but I thought you already did") But enough of that. It was all just part of the adventure and journey to get here. Although dating had its interesting moments, I wasn't very fond of it. I'm glad that I will just be focusing on one person to be dating now.
Right...so you want to know a bit about him...ok...His name is Ed and hes 37...3 kids and all boys. (SORRY MOM!!!! Mike and Lisa can still give you a girl). I have had the pleasure of meeting the boys and they seem pretty good kids. Ages 11,9 and 7. Pretty close to Sean and Kurtis' age too which works out.
Well...I won't go into further detail..All is due time for people to meet.

Curveballs in life

you know...life tends to throw people curveballs. I had a friend who got pregnant. Wanted it so bad, then she lost it. I had another friend tell me she was pregnant. Shes 38 and her daughter is 20 hmmm....
I guess I'm not the only one with curveballs (NO MOM I'M NOT PREGNANT!). I think I got hit with the curevball this time and was forced to make a decision that can be life altering. Life has a funny way of turning out sometimes. On this journey of my life, its been an adventure of change and personal growth. Today...I made a big decision that I feel very much at peace with. Lets see where this next journey takes me and the kids.

Death of a Lobster Trap

In 1999, I travelled from Nova Scotia to home with a child and a lobster trap shoved in the body of a 1991 Crysler Daytona. I was placed in my backyard at Tiffany Place upon arrival. It was weather beaten, moved by roofers and whatever else might have attached itself to. It made the move from Tiffany Place to Bocage via my dad and was placed in my backyard, a bit tattered.
I looked outside today and found it shattered in pieces. 3 6 year olds were standing by it...fingers pointed to my son. Needless to say I was a wee upset by this since it had a history of travel. I can't bear to throw out the peices yet...I'm in too much shock!

Adventures in home owning!

Well let me see...where do I start.

First off, the power outlet in my bathroom wasn't working...dad looked at it, its not working at all.
Next, the dishwasher wasn't working (found out after a full load was ready to be ran). Managed to figure it out on my own, but still didn't seem all that hot.
Today, I ran out of hot water rather quickly. Hmm...maybe thats why the dishwasher wasn't that hot. Had some help to figure this one out. Some people and how they do plumbing I tell you. To make a long story short, just had to turn off one valve that shouldn't even be where it is.
I also had my washing machine leak since the hose wasn't hooked up properly (and you know who you are that did that!) :)
Top it all off, my shower rod fell down. Looks like the spring is gone! Holy! I'm wondering if it will ever end. I'm now down to 4 pesky boxes. Its that stuff that had a place before and now just doesn't seem to fit anywhere.

Kurtis becomes Golden Hawk again!

Back to the beginning of hockey season and Kurtis once again becomes a member of the hawks. This year he is minor atom Quinte West Golden Hawks...thats a mouthful. unfortunatly, he will not be wearing the number 3, but number 7. A tad disappointed but a new adventure.

I will set up a link to the site when it gets started this year.

All moved in!

Well Its now September 4th and I've been in my new house for 4 days now. I'm not quite living out of boxes anymore, I have pictures on my walls, still can't find my shower curtain, camera, and printer cable. But I'm not finished with the boxes yet. I will include some pictures of my new place when I can find my camera and the cable.

Jasper seems to have adjusted nicely to the new place. The kids love their new rooms and excited to take a bus to school tomorrow. As for me...back to work tonight.

For all of you out there, feel free to stop by or give me a call...my phone number is still the same. But for now, I am off to find my shower curtain!

New Home

Well it is now September 1st. I am officially at my new residence in Trenton. The move went smoothly thanks to the hard work of 6 men. Much apprectiated. I am now in the process of unpacking, and painting. I still can't locate my shower liner nor my cable for the printer. But I'm sure it will turn up eventually.

Kurtis got an early birthday present from grandma and poppa...a new dresser. I guess they talked it over with him and he agreed.

I have alot more unpacking and organizing to do but now the hard part is over. Anyone is welcome to stop by and see the new digs...those of you far away...when you are in the area, give me a call.

3 Days remain

Well, it is the 28th and the offical move date it the 31st. However, the truck will be mostly loaded on the the 30th. This will be my last post until I am settled. The computer will be shut down tomorrow at some point and I don't have a phone until at least Friday to hook back up to. Oh well...I went 10 days without the cyber world, I think I can handle 3.

The kids are now getting excited and we've finally found out busing information for them. It becomes more real as the days go on. The mattresses are on the floor, the kitchen cupboards are empty and tomorrow so will my fridge. One of my neighbours will be houseing my food until the fridge is hooked up. A list of guys are on hand to help with the move over the 2 days. Wish my dear brother was here to help...but alittle too much to ask from Winnipeg! :)

Out of all the boxes I managed to get, I have 2 remain that have yet to be packed. And I think it will only be one that I will use. Can't complain.

Anyway, until next time....

Tournament Part 3

Well...soccer season is finally over. To spare any of the complicated details...we lost. No final to play...nothing. Great group of kids and I have one more evening to spend with them at bowling tomorrow night. Should be fun.
I was asked to return as a coach for the under 7 league next year as well as be the convenor for that league....what does that mean??? Not much except I'll be in contact with 7 other coaches for the under 7 division on behalf of the soccer club. Might as well...its all for the kids

Tournament part 2

We tied our second game 1-1. When all points were calculated, we are still stied for 1st place in our pool. Tomorrows game at 11:00 will be the deciding game.

Tournament Standings!

Soccer season is finishing up and we are now heading into game #2 of the year end tournament. We have won the first game 5-3. That gives us 3 points for our pool. Keep watching the updates as the tournament is over tomorrow.

Congratulations!

Congrats Erin and Chad on the upcoming arrival of baby #2.

LCD Decision

Hey everyone...Well the countdown begins to the new digs! I have made the decision to purchase a new tv. For me of course. I figure the kids can have "the old one" (bought in 2002). So off I go to Leons to price shop. Tubes, flat screen, LCD, plasma!!!!! HOLY!!!!!! But...the quantity of Tubes and Flat Screens was pretty low. Is this the manufacturers way of sucking us into buying the more expensive brands? So I talked to a guy. He says the major companies (Brick, Leons, Future shop, Best Buy) will not be stocking shelves with tubes and flat screens as of next year. Everything is going digital including TV. He says Canada is behind the 8-ball but the US is already starting with cable tv. So my thoughts of just going in to buy a $399 tv have been blown right out of the water. Now I'm going to price shop...watch flyers etc. Any help on what to buy would be greatly appreciated in the comments area of this site

Moving day is just around the corner

Well it is now 11 days left to moving day. My house is in shambles and I am trying to find at least one corner that doesn't have a box in it. I'm also trying to find places to stack boxes. But I finally caved and packed up most of the kids toys. I think they can live without them now for a couple of weeks.

Soccer season is just about over. We have one game and a tournament on the 26/27th. But theres no break for me. Hockey starts today. Kurtis has once again decided to tryout for the Golden Hawks. Here we travel again! (But its all good)

Hope everyone has enjoyed their summer

Just a nice picture at Peggys Cove

Makes a mother warm and tingly just to see this site!

A little Puzzle!

One of these pics was taken at Lake Ontario, the other was taken at the Atlantic ocean...hmmm...which one is it? Either Lake Ontario had some high waves or the Atlantic was not active very much. I'll leave that one up to you. Unless you were there, you probably will have a tough time!

This is Larry

If anyone knows the story of Lester the lobster from PEI...then I don't have to explain further. If you don't...just take my word for it. Anyway, this is Larry, he is Lesters cousin from Nova Scotia. He was in the pound in Peggys Cove. Larry weighs 9lbs! Not one I would eat but certainly nice to look at!

Adventures in Camping Part 2

Well...these adventures don't just include myself. We were fortunate on our vacation to spend 4 nights at the Vahalla Resort...ok. Better known as Al and Cathys cottage. (He's my Uncle). Mom was under the impression she would be staying in a place "like a house". Anyway, the first night, kids get a mattress, parents get the double bed. Myself and Cathy are in the loft and Uncle Al got suckered into spending the night on the couch with the boys. I head off to bed early, get settled in when a "whoosh" goes by my head and I swear I see a bat...I roll over and try to go to sleep. Cathy comes up, gets to sleep but starts snoring...ugh...so much for sleep. Next day, Uncle Al shows me the bat house outside and Cathy confesses that she too saw the bat but hoped I would not. Whatever! Chances you take in cottaging. Uncle Al also tells me there are 2 snakes living in the loft as well. But thankfully, I never saw one. Speaking never seeing things...ever heard of "no see ems?" Neither had I. Pesky little Black flies that are so small...you are bit before you ever see them. Well everyone had bites, but I was the one affected the most. I was swelled up, itchy and scratchy. Needless to say, it was day 3 before I had a cure for the itch (calamine lotion). For all the moms out there...After bite for kids does NOT work. By the end of the stay at Valhalla, I counted 55+ bites, looked like a see of pink, and was doped on Benadryl. Nice vacation. oh...as we pulled out of Valhalla, the stories abouts bats and snakes were told to my mother! (the picture is proof that she was there)

Unlce Tim loses to 6-year old!

Well...If you know our family, we are known for our card playing. Once you are old enough to learn the game and know what a nickel is then you can play. The card game started out in New Ross. It was fairly even around the table the first night. The second night was time to teach young Sean how to play. So he sat on my lap and learned the game with his own money. The second night he went solo and held his own but did not win a thing. Actually that night the big winner was Aunt Cathy who's seldom won a game. The next night we were off to Sackville to meet up with some more family. So 8 of us sat around the table. The first round, Uncle Tim was up against Sean in the final match. Sean beat him out. Way to go. Shamefully, Uncle Tim has to hold his head low for that match! One no one will let him forget.

Back from the East

Well we've now returned from our 10 day trip out East. Keep coming back as I upload pictures and new posts from the trip!

Unexpected turns in Life

You know...in my life I've often had a plan. I can tell you that no matter how many plans I make, theres always something that alters your path. I guess its all in who you meet at the times you meet them. I've now had an unexpected turn and I will leave it at that. Only time will tell where my new road takes me. I'll keep you posted. See you in a couple of weeks!

Seans goals to date!

HI everyone...

Sean has been a busy beaver this soccer season. He has had 7 goals on net which also amounts to $7.00 from his grandfathers pocket. Way to go Sean. He is quite the little player and is also an assest between the posts. 3 more games to go and a tournament.

Next up...hockey season!

The new digs!

Welcome to 33 Bocage. I took a stroll the other day with a friend (the one having a baby anyday!). We walked by the new house so I snapped a couple of pictures. Much better than where I am right now. A few family members might think it resembles either an Aunt and Uncles old place, or even their own house.

Its not a Jack in the Box!

I said I wouldn't pack my kids and my cat. No one said anything about the neighbours kids! This is Myah! She isn't quite 2 yet but I had offered to babysit while mom was at the hospital (shes having a baby). So Myah decided she wanted to help me pack. Obviously from inside the bos. She stayed in there for about 20 minutes. Eventually she got out and helped put other things in the box. She was a great help.

Sean Meets his equal

If anyone honestly knows Sean, he is a VERY busy boy and always thinking of something to do. And he generally gets himself into trouble. Well...he finally met his match. On our camping trip, the boys befriended a set of twins from Quebec. They all hit it off well. Kurtis and Gabrielle hung out and Sean hung out with Simon. They all seemed to be well matched. They played ball, hiked in the woods, swam together and laughed the entire time. But the biggest laugh of all was when Sean and Simon came back telling us the found a sign... (its the woods I'm thinking a piece of wood to "make" a sign. But oh no...as you can see they found a sign. They dragged it from this high rocky hill and brought it back to the campsite. They both had huge mischevious smiles on their faces. It was a picture worth a thousand words. The sign pretty much said "campsite boundary" etc...

But what no one realizes is that these 4 boys had the most fun and the best time. Even with the language barrier. Simon and Gabrielle could not speak english and my kids...could not speak french. It made their "friendship" all that more interesting and the conversations hilarious. We have exchanged email with them and it would be great for the 4 boys to continue on their adventures.

ADVENTURES IN CAMPING!

Well the boys and I, as well as my dad ventured on a 4 day 3 night camping trip to Charelston Lake. But it came with its own adventures.

Rule Number 1...always check your camping equipment BEFORE you leave. We had to take a side trip into Gananoque the following morning as our campstove was defective... (Pats fault)
Rule #2... Put garbage away even if it doesn't have food and always bring a stick when you check the noise. Both dad and I have adventures with racoons. Pesky little things. One decided to scare myself on the way to the bathroom.
Rule #3... Always make sure of your surroundings before you go and locate all emergency hospitals prior to making plans.
Curious about this one...???? Well. Pat was on many bathroom trips when she ran into a raccoon. Dealing with discomfort and eventually pain, she decided at 2:00am to head to Brockville Hospital (it appeared closer on the map). Upon leaving the capmground, there were 3 OPP cruisers at the front entrance. I decided to stop and ask what was closer...Brockville or Kingston. They stated Kingston was closest and take a certain HWY over some way! Well...its dark, its 2:00am...Its starting to rain and I'm in pain...They decided to escort me all the way to Kingston General at speeds I didn't know I could do in the presence of Police. Even ran some stop signs. I even accomplished this with one hand on the wheel dodging obstacles. But I returned 3 hours after I left with a diagnosis of a rather painful bladder infection. So...while going to Gananoque the following morning...or rather a few hours later...I stopped at the pharmacy.

I'm sure there are many rules...but those ones were the ones that mattered.
Hope to do this again when there isn't so much adventure!

Getting ready for the big day!

Well I don't really have one big day in particular. But I noticed I didn't post anything for a few days. So here I sit, exhausted from my day of packing yesterday for what...camping and moving. Now my house looks like a war zone. But surprisingly a lot less cluttered. But in the meantime I have sit and stare at some blank walls and live without some movies and music for the next little while. I ran out of boxes for now and paper, maybe I need to take a trip to the recycle station and borrow some paper back. Hey...maybe I can borrow some boxes too.

Anyway, I didn't pack the kids or the cat yet so I have to still take care of them!

Thursday, July 13, 2006

Having some fun!

Thought it was only fair to post one of each of them. Action shot for Kurtis!

Wednesday, July 12, 2006

Lets try this again!

Ok...I thought I uploaded a picture...If all else fails...I'm clueless with this!

I figured out how to upload pictures!

Heres a picture of the boys. Its the most recent I have. Now if I can only figure out how to upload a picture of myself on my "About me Profile". Anyone help!?
